Dorset Lives – LoveLove MD Georgina Hurcombe on BBC Radio Solent
LoveLove Films’ Founder and Managing Director, Georgina Hurcombe was recently approached to appear on Dorset Lives, a BBC Radio Solent segment presented by host Steve Harris that “celebrates ordinary lives with extraordinary stories”.
On the ever-growing Dorset digital industry Steve Harris, BBC Radio Solent states, “There are new ways of working and new jobs that people do that are worth acknowledging in the county. The kind of things that maybe Dorset wasn’t previously famous for.”
Georgina was delighted to chat to Steve on BBC Radio Solent and share her story about how she got into the digital and media industry and why she chose to set up LoveLove Films regionally in Bournemouth, Dorset rather than the more traditional London.

Georgina and the LoveLove team are extremely passionate about our hometown in Dorset and are dedicated to nurturing, retaining and inspiring the young talent that comes out of the local universities, colleges and schools.
In 2017 alone, Georgina and the LoveLove Films team have participated in a range of panels and talks including Boss Talks, the BFX Regional Growth panel and the Royal Television Society ‘Meet the Professionals’ event; as well as hosting numerous workshops with local institutions, such as the ‘TV Adverts: what you need to know’ workshop for Bournemouth University, workshops with young people who have complex educational needs for Martin Clunes: Riding Therapy, and producing a project with Bournemouth University, NHS and Mind to raise awareness for Mental Health in young people titled Life Unfiltered.
When broadcast, Georgina was due to speak at Digital Wave on a panel with LoveLove animator JoAnne Salmon and scriptwriter Oliver Selby to share their insights on how they each got into the industry. Digital Wave is an event held at the Bournemouth International Centre, where over 1,000 students from numerous schools and colleges appear to witness talks from some of the digital industry’s finest and to meet their potential future employers at their exhibition stands.
Bournemouth has become the UK’s fastest-growing city in the digital economy, with digital start-up incorporations rising 212% between 2010 and 2013 according to The Telegraph.
For us, it is particularly exciting to see that Dorset is flourishing as a hub for digital media and creativity, and here at LoveLove Films, we are thrilled to be a part of it.
