The latest LoveLove Films video, for the single Flames by DMC, of Run DMC fame, was launched today. We’re excited to see the release of another video for a multi-platinum album selling musician and can’t wait to see the impact it makes.

DMC  joined forces with Disturbed bassist John Moyer and rock front man Myles Kennedy to release a probing new single “Flames,” which addresses the issue between the black community, gun violence and police shootings.

The video’s visuals are very close to the lyrical theme of Flames, which features scenes of police brutality, rioting and violence. The video both states the lyrics onscreen and uses a unique animated world to show the carnage of the song.

 DMC stated on CNN  “Whether it’s a cop shooting a kid or a kid shooting a kid, we gotta look at the totality of the senseless, ridiculous, foolish violence that is polluting all of our communities … So I decided to be the rock ‘n’ roll hip hop guy that wouldn’t be afraid to make a song about it because it isn’t all good in the ‘hood”

With just over a month spanning pre-production to completion, the video was produced to a tight deadline, but has become something that perfectly encapsulates the video, and received praise from DMC himself, with the musician tweeting his appreciation to LoveLove Films, describing the video as “awesome … great job!”

This video is the company’s latest production for an American client. LoveLove Films is expanding rapidly into America, having already produced content for a variety of American musicians and companies, including the technology giant Cisco Systems. DMC’s management, who are based in Austin Texas, approached LoveLove Films to produce a video for their artist after recommendations from various people within the US music industry.

On producing Flames for a musical legend, LoveLove Films’ Managing Director Georgina Hurcombe states “I’m incredibly happy with the finished result and it’s great to work on a project with such an important message. DMC is the latest in a long line of high profile clients to come to LoveLove Films. I can’t wait to see which musical giants will come to the company next! ”

With a tight deadline, LoveLove Films decided to create a unique mix of 2D animation and motion graphics animation, giving the overall video an innovative visual quality. It features animated characters  (Watch out for some of the team members!) and fast camera motions through an animated world whilst presenting the lyrics from the song.

DMC has had a long and enduring career; beginning in Queens, New York City in the early 80s when he was the founding member of the genre defining hip hop and rap band Run-DMC. Run-DMC’s many achievements include releasing the first rap albums to reach gold and platinum, becoming the first rap act to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone, and are the first rap band to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Run-DMC were also recently given a lifetime achievement Grammy, the first ever rap act to do so.

Lovelove Films are extremely excited to announce the release of American band Far In The Maples’ new music video for their single Hookline. Far In The Maples band members flew into the UK from New York to work with Lovelove .

Director and Band Manager Brian Nelson of Rebel Intellingence stated:

“I chose Lovelove films in the UK for this particular project because of their ability to animate. They have some of the best animators and best post-production people in the business ”

Lead singer Regina explains that along with being influenced by nature themes, the song is about “a relationship you’re trying to hold together but it feels as if it’s falling apart”.

With the video being filmed entirely on green screen, the Lovelove team had the exciting task of creating environments for the characters to inhabit from scratch, making it a really interesting project. It was also the bands first time filming with green screen with Reshy P (keyboardist) stating  “it was cool because you got to use your imagination and it was a really cool experience”.

The video promotional campaign featured an all-important hashtag in order to drive greater social media engagement. LoveLove Films are proud to announce the release of our latest music video for the multitalented ‘Gabby Young & Other Animals’, for her brand new single “I’ve Improved”.

The video for the song was produced entirely in-house in Bournemouth by the LoveLove Films team. The project; which spanned just 14 days from concept to completion is the latest LoveLove Films project for Gabby Young, having previously produced the video for lead single “In Your Head” from her previous album, which to date has garnered more than 55,000 views on YouTube.

The “I’ve Improved” video adopts the ‘2D cut-out’ animation style found on the artwork of her upcoming album “One Foot in Front of the Other”, and brings it to life, seeing Gabby and the band lost in a varied and visually stylised 2D environment; the expansive landscape and plethora of creatures and eccentric characters all designed, animated and rendered in house by LoveLove Films’ animation team.

“I’ve Improved” received its official world premiere screening on Friday 7th February at the ‘Under the Bridge’ venue in West London, during one of Gabby and the Band’s concerts.

One of our favourite artists, Gabby Young http://www.giftofthegabrecords.com , has just filmed an entirely new music video for her upcoming single “I’ve Improved” with the LoveLove Team.

Gabby Young and her band the “Other Animals” visited Our Bournemouth Studio in the hope of recording something that tops their last music video LoveLove Films produced “In Your Head.” Gabby young wanted something that would look visually distinct and original, whilst also tying in with the theme of her ‘paper world’ album artwork.

After an incredibly fun time singing and dancing in our studio, the filming was complete. This was one of the most enjoyable shoots yet undertaken by the LoveLove Films team. Some of the crew members (Dom) were even so taken with the song that they’d dance through every take (video coming soon).

Now that filming is complete animation begins… We’re sure the finished video will be visually captivating.

The video will premiere on February the 7th at a launch event held as part of their concert at “Under the Bridge” in London. Book tickets here.

Viral marketing has been around for a long time, however, in the last three years the concept of what viral videos can achieve has been completely reassessed.

Social media now occupies a huge portion of people’s lives. Viral videos have always been a large part of social media’s appeal; however since 2010 viral marketing has developed in a vast and rapid way.

What is the top viral video of 2013?

It’s this. The official music video for the Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis’ song “The Fox (what does the fox say.)” At the time of writing (Dec 2013) the video has had almost 300 million views since being uploaded in September 2013, and is still growing at a rapid pace.

These numbers are not only great for giving the comedy duo recognition; there has been lots of serious commercial success resulting from this viral. The YouTube advertising revenue gained from this video will have been substantial. This link states that you can estimate that every 100 million views on YouTube can result in $100,000.

 

Most importantly, however, is the revenue that has been made from the merchandising of this video. This article states that the fox costume went on to become one of the most searched for Halloween costumes this year. This isn’t in a single country; the fox costume was searched for and sold widely in every country that celebrates Halloween.

Ylvis’s video, without being a straightforward advertisement, or promotional video, has managed to earn lots of money in even more ways. The children’s storybook based upon the video is also making Ylvis lots of money, as is the worldwide singles chart performance of the song. It’s the most successful Norwegian song since “Take On Me” in the 80s.

How can this help my Brand?

An increasing number of companies are turning towards viral marketing, with huge levels of success for their brand. Many of the top viral hits of 2013 were made exactly with this intention.

Volvo’s very recent video “Volvo Trucks – The Epic Split feat. Van Damme” uploaded on the 13th of November 2013, has managed to reach over 61 million views in just over a month. That’s the equivalent of reaching the entire population of Britain. As well as having a large audience, this article has brought some very positive PR to Volvo. There are dozens of articles now on the internet with titles like this one, saying “Nothing Will Top This Commercial.”

This statement is obviously an exaggeration; a more apt and realistic title would be “Advertisers need to up their game and make their campaigns as dynamic and Innovative as this.” There are now hundreds of examples of large companies taking advantage of viral marketing campaigns; they’re becoming an increasingly common phenomenon.

Keeping up to date

Seasonally themed videos have sprung up extensively. The talk of the moment across the internet and on many news media outlets is Westjet’s Christmas viral “WestJet Christmas Miracle”, which in 10 days has managed to gain 30 million views around the globe.

The theme of the viral is simple, but highly accessible. Its title teases the viewer, with the promise of an old fashioned Christmas miracle, and the resulting viral does not let down. The content, a documentary of WestJet customers being asked what they want for Christmas by Santa before boarding a plane, and then receiving their wishes after landing, has managed to connect with a worldwide audience by spreading Christmas cheer.

It has at the very least managed to spread WestJet’s name around the world.

Building a Following

There is one other factor to Westjet’s, and other viral companies’ success: building up a following. Many of the best viral videos are so successful because a viral campaign has numerous videos. WestJet have been releasing viral videos for over three years. They are of a wide variety, ranging from short documentaries of holiday destinations, to humorous parodies to fit in with a certain season.

 

Through doing this WestJet have accumulated a significant following. Currently they have 27000 subscribers; something gained over time. To see the positive increase in viewership all that needs to be done is look at their videos over time. Their April Fools video from several years ago “WestJet introduces state of the art money saving feature” has managed 500,000 views. One year later their April Fools video WestJet introduces child free cabins managed to gain almost 1 million viewers. The Christmas miracle has managed 30 million. Their next viral video will almost definitely get viewers in the millions too now their name has been established like never before. And millions is the worst case scenario.

Making a Successful Viral

But what is it that makes a good viral video great? There is a list of recurring factors that leads to success.

Now, more so than ever, as this article points out “This year’s list (of the top viral videos) is full of professional videos.”

Linked to high production values are feats, and spectacular achievement. Jean Claude Van Damme performing the splits against two trucks is an event; an event that the viral video has manufactured to gain the most possible drama.

Other virals use different elements. WestJet have combined achievement with humour and heart; two elements that always fare well online. These factors and more are the defining characteristics of incredible viral adverts. As the examples show, they appeal to an incredibly wide audience.

The music video LoveLove Films recently released for the international multi-platinum album selling artist Joss Stone has managed to reach the number one spot in terms of viewership and popularity for the biggest television network in Brazil, Multishow, on their popular music programme TVZ.

This news shows that The Love We Had continues to display its wide ranging appeal and success across the world. Previously the Video for The Love We Had has been praised by a wide variety of media outlets, and received extensive coverage in the UK’s newspapers, such as the Daily Mail and the Telegraph, and has led to much discussion on popular websites the world over.

The Multishow programme shows videos based on a system of how many votes that the videos’ gain several categories. In this case The Love We Had was voted top of the favourite music video category, beating stiff competition from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomes and Miley Cyrus. For several days it was the most shown and most widely seen video on the Globo network, which broadcasts out to a population of over 200 million people.

LoveLove Films are pleased to announce that the music video for Joss Stone’s The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind,) which we created from concept to completion has in just over a month been seen and enjoyed by millions of viewers.

The video, produced with a quick turnaround and vast amounts of enthusiasm is set to become Joss Stone’s most successful music video ever produced, having a faster acceleration of viewers on Youtube and Vevo than any of her previous singles within the timeframe. In fact, in just over a month of being online the video had managed to top 1.5 Million viewers on both Youtube and Vevo. The video is also currently airing on television worldwide, adding to the overall viewing figures of the music video significantly.

The critical reception of the video has been just as enthusiastic as the viewing figures. The video has received promotion in publications such as The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, OK Magazine and on television shows such as Loose Women, Daybreak, Sky News and more.
